Search engine optimisation can be viewed as a technical project in that it is focused on making a website’s code search engine friendly. However, in reality the real objective from a business perspective is to sell more product and/or services.
Would you like 1 million visitors to your site or 500?
Obvious answer, maybe not, let’s qualify a little by saying the 1 million visitors may be children, where as the 500 are purchasing managers requiring your product.
So, would you like 1 million visitors to your site or 500?
The answer is probably 500 as the traffic to your site is targetted, and probably gives a good conversion rate to sales.
The Internet is another channel to market, so why treat it different to an offline marketing exercise, the proposition needs to be clearly communicated to the target market in a cost effective manner.
Please download my SEO Project Template document which will give you a more rounded view as to what a SEO Project should consider. You can access the Downloads page from within my Blog, see index on the right hand side.
I plan to release an updated version as there are still more items to put in, but at 26 pages on this version I thought it would get the ball rolling.
If you have suggestions please leave a comment.

Hi,
The new website is taking shape and the addition of this blog should add a bit more interest to the site.
Having 29 years in the IT industry (my first computer had 8k of memory, so overlay programming was a necessity, these young’uns have never had it so good, no I’m not a grumpy old guy I just have a sense of humour), working on a variety of commercial systems over the years with a spell out with one of the big consultancy firms has given me a broad range of business and technology skills. Buy me a pint and I’ll tell all.
Getting back to the plot, as the Internet capacity to deliver faster and cheaper information point-2-point increases, many people fail to take advantage of what it could do for their business. Traditional thinking on building interfaces to disparate systems and reprocessing the information into many different formats is still perpetuated.
Looking at turning-the-terminal around, and get the supplier/customer to do the data entry, saves administration time, but also empowers the person inputting the information when they want to. Trading hubs and messaging hubs, linked with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery, means new ways of working can be introduced cost effectively.
Internet business is expanding rapidly, so the need for good quality Webshops (shopping carts) and transactional websites is becoming an increasing priority in virtually all businesses.
Well that’s a taster of what my Blog will contain, but I cannnot gaurantee that I won’t introduce some other topics which ‘can make a difference’.
Always looking for businesses and/or people with a need to ‘think out of the box’ to make a step change to their business. Drop me a line or add a comment to my Blog. General advice and tips available on my Blog, but no multi-million pound secrets divulged.
Regards
Robert.
Enjoy your life … I think you only get one.
