Business Plan explanation

A Business Plan is an essential tool to understand your Business, and show other people your business idea is viable. Business Plans are used to help you understand your business in detail, from defining your target market, the sales and marketing strategy, managing your cashflow and your employees.
Business Plans are usually demanded by any bank or investor that needs to understand that the basic principles of business are adhered to, namely, you will make a profit at some point. The Return on Investment for anyone providing funding is a key factor when assessing the risk and reward of a business venture. A Business Plan documents your approach to your particular business, and why you will succeed, ie: your experience, unique selling points etc.

Many people starting a business have never created a Business Plan, therefore find it quite a daunting task. There are many Business Planning tools out there, but you need to understand the terms and implications of the information being input.

Having started many businesses myself, and having helped other start up and small businesses, led me to the conclusion that there was a gap to be filled. Business Planning is not just filling out the forms, but it also requires business knowledge in order to ensure the business information is actually realistic and meaningful. An experienced Business Consultant can be used in this process and verify the true cost of starting up a business, but also may provide valuable knowledge to reduce costs and time to market.

A Business Angel is an indvidual, usually with a business background, who wish to invest in startup and growing businesses. They can be a good source of funding, but in return they will want a return on their investment and/or equity.
